FINAL DEVELOPMENT: Performance Theatre

At first, the stage located in the center. Now I have changed it located in the north part of the theatre, so the circulation wont be bothered by the stage.

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT: AT GLANCE

This post is meant to gives at glance impression for the project. Surely it will still be developed, this is not the final yet.

Enjoy

Front: The 'Tree Branches' Facade.

Indoor Presentation Space: The Stage!

Water & Marine Exhibition Hall alongside Brisbane river.

Trees & Earth Exhibition Hall. Transition between indoor to outdoor.

Outdoor Lunch Area

Redevelopment of HSW's Parkland. Various Trees, Birds and Fish Pond. Observation deck & sightseeing

Finish! Play 'Harvest Moon' first before leaving :)

While run through spaces actually the children's level of curiosity will increase, and it goes on and on until reached the maximum and at the end the Children have to answer it by the knowledge that gained. Hopefully, the children will get the greater idea of nature, how to preserve, protect, and apply the knowledge for everyday life & future.

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT: OUTDOOR EXHIBITION SPACE + LUNCH AREA

There are few points that I could get based on last tutorial:
1. Rainforest even looks sustainable but it could be not sustainable due to the construction and the relevance with Australian climate (especially Brisbane)
2. The Lunch Area doesn't really works due to the out of context between spaces. I have it separately before.

The new proposed program
1. Eliminate the rainforest, and showing the various of trees that suitable with Australian climate (Gum Tree, Maple, Australian Pine, kinds of Flowers).
2. Create small pond for fish (element of water)
3. Lunch area in outdoor exhibition space, as it gives the experience of nature while having lunch.

Highlighted Red is Lunch Area and Small Pond located a bit farther

The Lunch Area now is the small part of the Outdoor Exhibition Space. Outdoor Exhibition Space itself meant to be the connector and answerer of the children's curiosity. It acts as container itself for the whole essence of the design and Howard Smith Wharves. To put 'small' activities like having lunch between the nature is also part of the learning that the children would have. Also, Outdoor Exhibition Space itself take part as 'Transition' after Indoors.

PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT: INDOOR PRESENTATION SPACE

To give more fun and pleasure for the Children to gaining knowledge, I have decided to put a performance of funny drama combined with musical as the presentation media.

Plan view

Indoor Presentation Space Plan
At the moment, the concept is like amphitheater where the performer are in the center and the audiences are surrounding the stage. This layout could be change because now I have came up with new ideas of layout while writing this post.

Interior View of Indoor Presentation
The interior view of the Presentation Space, as you can see the stage is located at the center.

West Section

South Section

The Sections reveals the interior and height of the space. At first I have 2 stories for Indoor Presentation Space and now changed into just 1 story high. It changes the impression of the building as well.

A REFRESHMENT
To give example regarding presenting a 'serious' topic within 'not serious' way. May I present this clip. Taken from An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore's Documentary Movie of Global Warming Issue.

Well I think more or less it gives the impression on how to approach a complex issue to a Children, within media that actually attractive (such as cartoon). However, watching cartoon could be boring while watching theatrical performance within mixed media (music, costume etc) will be more attractive and eager their desire to pay attention with the program, which lead them to their next step of learning.

p.s: The Cartoon clip was actually a little bit explicit as it shows the anger to innocent kid, however I couldn't recommend a media that contains violence even just at glance.
